There are lots of sayings and phrases which are common in society, but are myths, or lies, created by the Devil to destroy us. The Word of God says that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, so I’m going to look at 3 popular myths, which all Christians should be aware of.

1. Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me.

This is a lie from the pits of Hells. Sticks and stones can break your bones, but words can harm your spirit. God’s word speaks of the power of the tongue, but the devil’s system teaches us to brush off word curses.

2. What I don’t know can’t harm me.

This is also a lie from the pits of Hell. Actually, God’s word tells us that people are destroyed for lack of knowledge in Hosea 4:6. This means that destruction comes to the ignorant, and salvation to the wise. The real truth is that what we don’t know can harm us the most, because we can’t protect ourselves from it. God protects us everyday from devices we aren’t aware of. This means that the unknown can harm us, or God wouldn’t have to protect us from it or reveal it to us.

3. What I don’t believe can’t affect me.

This is also a boldface lie. If you don’t believe in traffic, you can still get knocked down. People don’t believe in Hell but if they die in their sins that where they will go. People don’t believe in curses but alcoholism or sexual abuse plagues every generation of their family. People don’t believe in demons but they experience depression everyday because of oppressing spirits. Believing this lie will prevent you from addressing the real cause of your problems and you would continue to live in bondage.
