Recognizing The Operation Of The Holy Spirit
Wednesday, March 25th, 2009It’s been a while since we’ve had a Rapture Blog post but today we are resuming with his very important topic. There are a lot of people who have serious misconceptions about the Holy Spirit, based on what they have been exposed to.There is a popular misconception that disarray is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s presence. This is totally untrue!
I attended a church when I was very young in the faith, which clouded my perception of the Holy Spirit for many years. I believed that if I didn’t hop over pews and push down instruments that I wasn’t “under the power” of the Holy Spirit. It was normal to be injured during worship by other worshipers, or for worshipers to greatly distract you from worshiping with their loud, sharp actions. For years I thought that something was wrong with me because I didn’t scream out in worship or push anything down. Then the Lord led me to a “House of Bread” where there was much Spiritual food, and I then learned something very important.
God is a God of order, and everything God does always fits into order. No move of God in His church is designed to cause confusion. Satan is the author of confusion, and hence, when you see actions in church that are causing confusion, or distraction from what is happening corporately, be very careful. God won’t contradict or hamper what He is doing. God won’t instruct two people to prophesy at the same time, becasue that would be fruitless and would cause confusion. God won’t cause you to disrupt the worship service and prevent the worship leader from continuing. God won’t cause you to loudly speak in tongues during the Pastor’s message, because no one would be able to hear His Word. There MUST be order in the house of the Lord, and any action which does the opposite cannot be the Holy Spirit.
If we look at the coming of the Holy Spirit, as recorded in the book of Acts, even though some of the people outside thought the worshippers were drunk, there was still order, as the worshippers were in one accord and people still understood what was being said to them. That move of God resulted in the baptism of 3000 people in one day. The important thing to note about that account is that the worshippers were all in one accord, both before and after the coming of the Holy Spirit. At no time did any member of the congregation do anything contrary to what was happening corporately.
Ephesians 4:4 tells us:
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
There is indeed only one Spirit, and all works done unde that Spirit MUST be in one accord. Do not be fooled by imposters, where there is confusion, the Holy Spirit is not involved.
